Dumas Little League’s 2021 Opening Ceremonies will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 10th. Dumas Little League VP Jeff Trimble announced that the organization has activities planned all morning.
The activities will include a parade of teams, VFW color guard, the National Anthem sung by Adam Inmon, the Little League Pledge, Bounce Houses donated by Wesco Rental, BBQ brisket plates for lunch, as well as baseball and softball games.
Members of the Dumas Little League organization have been working with local businesses and community volunteers for weeks preparing facilities and updating fields for the upcoming season’s events. Little league teams can be heard practicing at neighborhood parks all through town each evening as they prepare for the upcoming events.
The organization has upgraded Dumas playing fields and is making a push to draw in teams from out-of-town to grow the local little league landscape. Trimble is excited to see the community come together to support the effort.
In a statement released to the Moore County Journal Trimble said, “We are Dumas Little League, but we shouldn’t allow ourselves to stop there. We as a community have an opportunity to bring out-of-town teams into our community after our local league is finished and with the help of our community and its leaders, we can do just that! There are multiple travel teams in our area that would love to play in their own backyard and we definitely have the capabilities to do so with our upgraded fields. Dumas Little League with the continued support of you all and our community can make this happen. Our mission is to provide a safe, family-friendly, fun, but yet competitive baseball and softball league for Moore County.”
