Sunray Teen Killed in Crash Southwest of Dumas

A Sunray teen was killed in a one-vehicle crash Sunday night, about three miles southwest of Dumas on FM 722.

According to a report from the Texas Department of Public Safety, 18-year-old Ivan Villanueva-Garcia was driving a 2003 Cadillac CTS northeast on FM 722 around 11 p.m. when his vehicle veered off the roadway and into a ditch, causing the vehicle to roll over. Villanueva-Garcia was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.

Villanueva-Garcia was pronounced dead on the scene by Moore County Justice of the Peace Barbara Mulanax.

Texas DPS officials said they believe he may have fallen asleep and will continue their investigation into the crash.
