DEMON BASEBALL

DALHART, TX – Jacob Saenz and Zach Thompson combined for eight hits, and the Dumas Demons claimed back-to-back wins for the first time this season Saturday with a 12-4 victory against the Dalhart Wolves.

Saenz reached base five times on four hits and a walk from the leadoff spot. The shortstop, who also smacked a two-bagger, tallied two runs and three RBIs for first-year coach Tyler Lloyd’s squad.

Thompson went 4-for-5 with two RBIs and a pair of extra-base hits. The right-hander also scattered a hit, walk, and four strikeouts over two innings of work.

Dumas, which snapped a two-game losing skid Friday with a 9-5 decision over the River Road Wildcats, will be on the road Wednesday against Lubbock Christian in its non-district finale.

The Demons will start district action on the road Friday against the Hereford Whitefaces, and will clash with the Perryton Rangers next Tuesday at home. The first pitch for both games is set at 5 p.m.

DEMONETTE SOFTBALL

DUMAS, TX – The Dumas Demonettes concluded their non-district schedule Saturday with a 13-6 victory over the River Road Lady Wildcats. With the win, the Demonettes improved to 18-6 and have won three consecutive games.

Dumas will open district play Thursday against the Pampa Lady Harvesters at the Inferno. The district-opening contest was moved from Tuesday due to inclement weather.

The Demonettes will travel to Hereford Friday to battle the Lady Whitefaces, and will host the Perryton Lady Rangers next Tuesday at the Inferno. All district games are slated to begin at 4:30 p.m.

SOCCER

MIDLAND, TX – The Dumas Demons will open the Bi-District playoffs Friday at 1 p.m. against the Clint Lions at the Green Field inside the Scharbauer Sports Complex.

The Demons (3-5-1) finished third in District 2-4A, while the Lions (7-3) placed second in District 1-4A. The Bi-District champion will play the winner of the Stephenville vs Greenwood matchup in the Area Round of the UIL playoffs.

The Demonettes will square off against the El Paso Riverside Lady Rangers in Bi-District playoff action Friday at 3:30 p.m. The game will be played at the White Field inside the Scharbauer Sports Complex.

Dumas (2-3-4) came in second place in District 2-4A, and the Lady Rangers (2-6) finished fourth in District 1-4A. The Bi-District champion will play the winner of the Lake View vs Mineral Wells matchup in the UIL Area Round playoffs.

TENNIS

AMARILLO, TX – The Dumas boys’ and girls’ tennis teams will be competing this weekend at the Amarillo Relays Tennis Tournament.
In singles action, Dianney Ortiz will represent the Demonettes and Jovan Antillon will compete for the Demons. Ortiz finished third recently at the Amarillo Sandie Cup in Lubbock, while Antillon won the consolation title.

Karitza Bencomo and Christi Medrano will compete in girl’s doubles, and Eh Kuh Soe and Frances Kaing will battle in the boy doubles competition.

In mixed doubles, Cadence Franks and Rogelio Escobar will represent Dumas High School.

The Demons and Demonettes will compete at the District Tournament from March 29-30 at Amarillo Bowie Middle School.
