Renee Campbell and Haley Mendoza Named Dumas ISD December Teachers of the Month

DUMAS, TX – Dumas ISD continues its program recognizing the Teacher of the Month at the Elementary and Secondary levels. Selected teachers receive a certificate, a Dumas Demon backpack, a Starbucks gift card, and a $50.00 gift courtesy of Janet Walker, Realtor, with Berkshire Hathaway.

The Secondary Teacher of the Month for December is Renee Campbell, 8th Grade ELAR Teacher at Dumas Junior High.

Dumas Junior High School (DJHS) Principal, Kurt Baxter, provided these words on behalf of Mrs. Campbell: “Mrs. Campbell is starting her first year at DJHS. She has been a huge asset to our 8th grade ELAR department. She goes over and beyond in the classroom. Building positive relationships with the students is one of her many strengths. Mrs. Campbell knows every student’s strengths and weaknesses. Not only does she support her students with their academics, she also supports them with their extracurricular activities. She has mentioned many times that she loves Dumas ISD and her PLC team. She is an ongoing learning who strives to better herself every day.”

The Elementary Teacher of the Month for December is Haley Mendoza, 1st Grade Teacher at Hillcrest. Hillcrest Principal, Stephanie Schilling , provided these words on behalf of Mrs. Mendoza: “Haley Mendoza began her teaching career here at Hillcrest Elementary in 2015. Haley attended White Deer High School and attended college at WTAMU. She is currently a 1st grade teacher. Haley has been teaching 1st grade for 6 years. She takes time to develop hands-on activities where her students are excited to come to class and explore learning opportunities. She is a very nurturing, loving teacher and her students love her. Haley has compassion and patience with all her students and works hard to build relationships with them. Her caring, loving attitude makes it easy for all her students to love her. She is a team player and works hard to become the best she can be. Haley is always ready to lend a helping hand anywhere she is needed at school.”

Dumas ISD congratulated the two winners, and all teachers that were nominated, saying “Thank you, teachers and staff, for a wonderful first semester! We know your continued expectation of excellence is making a huge difference in the lives of our students.”
