The Moore County Health Foundation’s nursing scholarship luncheon was held on Wednesday. The group honored Mary Farris who served as a Registered Nurse in Moore County for more than 45 years in several leadership roles such as Director of Nursing at MCHD and as a nursing educator. At 95, Mary still drives and serves on the Board of the Arts Center.
She was unable to attend the Luncheon, so the hosts brought the accolades to her home afterwards. Lex Graham of Graham Brothers Jewelers provided pearl earrings to help honor Mary, and the group also presented a dozen roses from the Foundation.
Since 2016, the Moore County Health Foundation has raised more than $200,000 to provide nursing scholarships for Moore County residents.
