DUMAS, TX – Doug Ellis:

After a year’s absence due to the Covid-19 restrictions, the Moore County Chapter of the Texas Tech Alumni Association will resume the annual Moore County Rally.  This year’s fund-raising event will take place on Thursday, July 29, at the Hoppy Place in the rear of the Toppled Turtle Brewing Company, at 102 E 7th Street in Downtown Dumas.

This year’s rally will begin at 5:30 p.m. with cocktails, and at 6:00 a light dinner, followed by a silent auction and an update on Texas Tech academics and athletics from our guest speakers.  Jim Douglass, vice president of development for the Texas Tech Alumni Association, will let us know how things are moving forward at the university and the association.

Special guest speaker, Barret Peery, is the new Associate Head Coach for the Red Raider Men’s Basketball team under new Head Coach Mark Adams.  Coach Peery comes to Tech after a four-year stint as head coach at Portland State and a 25-year career of coaching experience.  Coach Peery should have a lot of good, first-hand information on the basketball program along with updates on other athletic teams on campus.

This year’s scholarship recipients will be the special guests for the Rally, along with their parents.  All profits from the event go to support our annual scholarships for Moore County graduates and to our endowment with the TTAA for future scholarships.

Tickets to this year’s Rally at The Hoppy Place are $50 per person and include dinner and drinks.  Please RSVP to Kathy Speck at kathyspeck58@gmail.com or Andrew McMurry at AMcMurry@armlend.com.

All Moore County Texas Tech alumni and friends are encouraged to attend and show your support for Texas Tech and our local Tech students.  Guns Up!!
