Lightning illuminates Dumas, city escapes severe weather that hit Eastern Panhandle

Lightning illuminated the clouds east of Dumas, streaking across the horizon late Wednesday evening. Severe storms danced all over the Panhandle on Wednesday, including a tornado that touched down near Canadian at about 4:45 p.m and seriously injured three people. KVII-TV reported the victims were on a drilling rig about 2.5 miles north of Canadian. They were transported to Amarillo for medical treatment, but the severity of their injuries hasn’t been reported.
