PANHANDLE, TX – The Dumas varsity boy’s powerlifting team tallied 56 points last Saturday to open the season with a first-place finish at the Panhandle Meet.


Hector Pando took top honors in the 275-pound division with 1,390 lbs., and Keegan Ireland came in first in the 220-pound weight class with 1390 lbs.

Yahir Mendoza finished first in the 181-pound division with 1305 lbs., while Jose Chavira won the 148-pound weight class with 1,125 lbs.

Lucas Martinez placed second in the 308-pound weight class with 1,505 points, and both Dalton Leven (1390 lbs.) and Carlos Parra (930 lbs.) finished in third place in their respective weight divisions.

The Dumas varsity girl’s powerlifting team racked up 55 points Saturday to capture second-place at the Panhandle Meet.

Emilie Rios (620 lbs.), Vanessa Martinez (610 lbs.), and Natalie Vera (415 lbs.) each won first place in their respective weight classes.

Five Demonettes finished in second place including Brianna Bustamante (885 lbs.), Marlene Rodriguez (765 lbs.), Hayley Vecchio (760 lbs.), Aliah Jenkins (640 lbs.), and America Arenivar (565 lbs.).

Denisia Garcia (640 lbs.) and Mia Reynaga (505 lbs.) both placed third in the respective weight divisions.
