DUMAS, TX – During the Regional UIL Concert & Sightreading Contest held on March 8th and 9th, the Dumas High School Symphonic Band earned the coveted Sweepstakes award for yearlong achievement.

Dumas High School Band Director Rebecca Carter told the band on Wednesday “Super proud of all your hard work on some really difficult music.”

The Texas UIL Sweepstakes is designed to reward excellence in the three most measurable aspects of public school band curriculum – marching, prepared concert performance and ability to sight read music.

In addition, the Dumas High Concert Band earned a 2nd Division Excellent rating on stage.
