DPS Looking for Driver After Hit-and-Run Crash Kills Sunray Man

A Sunray man is dead after a vehicle hit him and drove away, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

A Texas DPS news release says 35-year-old Lauro Escobar was changing a flat tire on the shoulder of U.S. 287 approximately 10 miles south of Stratford around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday when another vehicle reportedly drove by and hit Escobar.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by Sherman County Judge Terri Carter.

DPS says the driver of the other vehicle has not yet been found and asked anyone with information to call the Dumas Highway Patrol Office at (806) 935-5908.
